Access and inclusion
Kingfisher Birding welcomes guests of all abilities. We tour in a small private group and shape every day around the people on it, and that includes access needs. Talk to us before booking and we will tell you honestly what we can and cannot accommodate.
What we can adapt
- Pace and rest stops. Touring in a small private group means the day moves at your speed, with breaks whenever needed.
- Site selection. Several of our regular birding locations offer flat, sealed or boardwalk access, including rainforest boardwalks and lakeside tracks on the Atherton Tablelands. We can build a full day of birding around accessible sites.
- Vehicle-based birding. Wetlands, farmland edges and open country birding can be done substantially from or beside the vehicle.
- Dietary requirements. All touring meals can be adapted for dietary needs with notice.
What to discuss with us before booking
- Wheelchair access. Our vehicle is not wheelchair-fitted. Guests who can transfer into a standard vehicle seat can travel with us, and we can carry a folding wheelchair. Contact us to talk through the practicalities for your situation.
- Uneven ground. Some birding involves unsealed forest tracks. We will always tell you in advance which parts of a planned day involve rough ground, and offer alternatives.
- Hearing and vision. Our guides are happy to adapt how they communicate sightings. Tell us what works for you.
