How many guests per expedition?

Our expeditions are privately guided for your group alone. We work with small groups, ensuring unhurried time at each location and the full attention of both guides throughout.

Will there be other people on my tour?

Every Kingfisher Birding expedition is a private charter - your group has the vehicle, the guides and the itinerary entirely to yourselves. If you are open to sharing with another small group to share costs, let us know when you enquire and we will do our best to accommodate.

What experience level do I need?

None. Clayton has guided everyone from first-time birders to listers with 5,000 species. Tell us where you're at and we'll pitch the pace accordingly.

What's included in the price?

All transport, accommodation (twin share), meals, park fees, and guide services for both Clayton and David. Solo travellers are welcome; room arrangements are confirmed when you book.

What is the cancellation policy?

Full cancellation and refund terms are confirmed in writing at the time of reservation and form part of your booking agreement. We strongly recommend travel insurance.

When do I pay?

A 20% deposit secures your place. 50% is due 90 days before departure, with the balance due 60 days out.

What should I bring?

Binoculars if you have them (loaners available), comfortable walking shoes, a hat, sunscreen, and a rain jacket. A full packing list is sent with your booking confirmation.

What if the weather is bad?

The Wet Tropics is a rainforest, rain is part of it. We route around conditions in real time. Some of the best birding happens just after rain.

Can I request specific species or locations?

Yes. Let us know before the tour and we'll factor in your targets where the routing allows. We can't guarantee specific species but we know where to look.
